Anyone Familiar with Grants?

Here's my dilema. I'm trying to help a friend find money to pay for an operation that she needs because she doesn't have medical insurance. She doesn't have medical insurance because she has a condition which makes her uninsurable. If she can get this operation, she will be better and once again able to get health insurance. Does anyone know of any grants or foundations that will award/give $35,000 for medical expenses?
